Blue Cube Toastmasters Club Movie

Ron Fredericks writes: Blue Cube Toastmasters Club recently held an open house to attract new members: Blue Cube Makes a Movie. The agenda for the open house was to make a movie. I directed, produced, and published this movie as a demonstration of what Blue Cube Toastmasters Club is all about.

Watch this movie to:

  • Learn about Toastmasters International,
  • Demonstrate how Toastmasters’ self-help public speech and leadership training works, and
  • Show potential future guests and experienced Toastmasters what makes Blue Cube unique as a club worth visiting/joining.

Live Event Multitrack Audio Capture

Ron Fredericks writes:

LectureMaker’s video studio captures audio with highest quality. Each audio source is recorded on separate tracks because audio is so important to a high quality video or podcast. I hope this overview helps my clients and prospects see just how serious I am in recording the very best audio for my live event video capture projects as well as my in-studio projects.

For hardware, I designed my audio capture platform around a PreSonus StudioLive 16.4.2 analog plus digital 16-track recording system that includes mic pre-amps, dynamic audio correction, and both analog and digital mixing. For software, I use Adobe Audition 3 (AA3) for multitrack capture, recording, and final post production mixes.

Here is a photo of LectureMaker’s studio setup:

Now Blue Cube club wants to make a movie. Sign up to become a Blue Cube Toastmaster and join in the fun during our open house event too.

Kill the Well

Bill Copeland writes:

BP is trying to salvage the leaking Deepwater Horizon oil well, not plug it.  I believe it’s possible to stop the leak very quickly, if we, not BP, choose to kill the well.

More Info

Over and over we have heard from BP that the long-term objective is to drill relief wells to reduce the pressure.  This is so they can go back in and start harvesting the fruits of their $600 million investment.

On April 20th the blowout occurred at 5,000 feet and the emergency relief valve, rated at 450 tons of pressure, failed.

Remember ‘Top Hat’?  In late May, a complex system of equipment was assembled on the floor of the Gulf with pipes from a surface ship to pump heavy mud down on the leaking wellhead. Pumping from the surface requires some of the most powerful pumps in the world.  They didn’t have enough mud.  Top Hat failed.  So has every other effort.

Most everyone in media, industry, government, and the scientific community has bought the BP point of view.  But there’s a much easier solution: kill the well. Drop something on the wellhead that weighs more than the 450-tons.  A large empty oil tanker ship might do.

Toastmasters District 4 Humor Contest

Ron Fredericks writes: I attended my first District level contest over the weekend. I will be adding more notes here over time. But for now, take a look at the growing number of photos I took during the event as one of two official photographers for this event.

Event Photos

The photos located here have been selected by a visitor to this page. So I have taken the time to enhance them and share them with you here. Take a look at the complete photo gallery below, and let me know what your favorite photos are too. Maybe I will have the time to highlight them in this section.

Event Photo Gallery

These photos form a complete record of the event as I experienced it with my SLR camera. If you like this format, perhaps you too would like to use LectureMaker’s photography service at your next event.

I used a monopole to help frame the images so there are several sequences that blend together as you watch the slide show unfold.

Use this post’s comment feature below to vote for your favorite photos. I will consider posting your favorites in the Event Photos section above. If you find photos you do not like, I am willing to remove them. Just let me know.
