Support Notes for version: 3.0

Flash Player version 10 is suggested but not enforced
SWFObject is used for flash version detection. LectureMaker uses advanced features of Flash Pro Development Suite CS4 with ActionScript 3 so flash player version 10 is suggested. Some users prefer not to upgrade their flash version so a link is also provided to try their current flash player version and bypass version detection all together. At the time of this writing, some viewers have reported success with flash player version 9.

Warning messages during playback
LectureMaker’s hot spot navigation dots allows a viewer to quickly scan major topics within a movie. When the user’s mouse is over a dot, a tool tip displays the subject matter for this topic. Under normal conditions, the viewer may also click these dots to navigate directly to the desired topic. However, if the video has not yet sufficiently downloaded enough content to begin play at this topic, a warning message will let the viewer know to try again at a later time. The amount of downloaded content is easy to see with a growing red line progressing through the dots. When download is complete, the red line will show across the entire scrub area of the navigation control, and the status window will display 100% downloaded.

Fatal error messages during preload or playback
LectureMaker’s Video Player includes an error handler for all media assumed accessible during playback. These fatal error messages may only occur in rare instances such as extremely poor bandwidth, unique security constraints, or attempts to play video with an old version of flash player having bypassed this player’s automated flash version upgrade notice.

Video freezes or web browser page crashes during playback
A few Windows IE7 users have experienced web browser issues during playback of movies longer than 45 minutes. In every case the problem is fixed when the user reboots their PC then watches the movie.
